About the Course
Do you want to gain the skills to rigorously quantify and report uncertainty in wind resource assessments for industrial applications? This course guides you through the fundamentals of uncertainty quantification (UQ) and its practical applications in wind resource assessment and site assessment, aligning with the latest IEC 61400-15 standard and the requirements of wind project financing. You will learn to classify sources of uncertainty, apply core mathematical concepts, calculate essential statistics, and effectively communicate uncertainty in professional wind assessment reports. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped to deliver robust, transparent, and finance-ready uncertainty analyses for wind energy projects.

After this course, you can
Use uncertainty source classification for industrial wind assessments.
Employ and understand the basic mathematics behind uncertainty quantification [UQ].
Calculate relevant statistics needed for UQ in wind.
Quantify uncertainty in the assessment of wind resources and siting.
Report uncertainty for industrial wind assessments.
6–8 days (spread over 2–3 weeks), hybrid, full-time (7.5 hours/day)
1. Math level of undergraduate engineering degrees (algebra and basic calculus).
2. Technical English.
3. Basic computational ability (Matlab, Python, advanced Excel, or similar) .
The course is offered online with interactive live sessions and asynchronous lectures, or in a flexible hybrid format combining both. Assessment is based on assignments and practical exercises, supplemented by a brief oral exam for final verification.
Evidence your learning with a Certificate of Achievement from the DTU on successful completion.
This course will be stackable with other LLL courses that will be developed by DTU Wind, to form certain specialisations or micro-degrees.
