Version control is a fundamental need for any knowledge workers that need to create, edit and review some sort of documents (e.g., codes, theses, and reports) in their daily work, if they want to do it efficiently, professionally and collaboratively. Git, the world’s leading version control system, enables you to track changes, collaborate seamlessly, and manage your documents/projects with confidence. This one-day intensive course is designed for lifelong learners eager to master Git’s essential features and workflows. Whether you’re an engineer, developer, designer, or project manager, this course will equip you with the skills to streamline your work, enhance team collaboration, and ensure the integrity of your documents/projects. After this course, you can
Explain why version control is essential for knowledge workers.
Install, configure and run Git on your computer.
Do version control on your documents/projects with a typical Git workflow (change, add and commit).
Collaborate with others through remote Git repositories using Gitlab/GitHub
1 day, hybrid, full-time (7.5) hours
1. Have basic computer skills and can bring/use own computer during the course session;
2. Can install a software (Git) and run terminal (like Git Bash or Window PowerShell) following instructions.
Pre-recorded lecture videos, on-site lectures, online course materials (web pages), discussions, and hands-on assignments.
Evidence your learning with a Certificate of Achievement from the DTU on successful completion.
This course will be stackable with other LLL courses that will be developed by DTU Wind, to form certain specialisations or micro-degrees.
